To encourage the breeding of horses in Texas, any Accredited
Texas-Bred Racehorse finishing first, second or third in any Texas pari-mutuel
race (except stakes races restricted to Accredited Texas-Bred horses)
shall receive a purse supplement.
Approx. $1.5 million is distributed yearly through the
Accredited Texas Bred Awards Program.
According to the Texas Racing Act, on every racing day,
an association (track) shall provide for the running of at least two races
limited to Accredited Texas-Bred horses, one of which shall be restricted
to maidens.
- Benefits to ‘Horse Owner’: *40 percent is
allocated to the eligible owners of the Accredited Texas-Bred horses
that finish first, second or third.
- Benefits to ‘Breeder’: *40 percent is allocated
to the eligible breeders of the Accredited Texas-Bred horses that finish
first, second or third.
- Benefits to ‘Stallion Owner’: *20 percent
is allocated to the eligible owners of the Accredited Texas Stallions
standing in this state at the time of conception whose Accredited Texas-Bred
progeny finish first, second, or third.
"ATB" also means increased value in the sale
arena.
1. Stallion Participation Fee (to be eligible
for Stallion awards for 2008 foals) $300: DECEMBER 31. Stallion Lifetime
Participation Fee (to be eligible for Stallion awards on all foals while
standing in Texas) $500
2. New Stallions enrolled in the ATB breeding program
for $100: DECEMBER 31
3. BROODMARE deadline in the ATB breeding program
for $50: JUNE 30
4. Deadline to register 2006 Foals for $100: DECEMBER
