Jenny
Martin, President of the Nacogdoches 4-H Horse Club and Gold Star Award
winner, has been busy sharing the joys and benefits of the Texas Quarter
Horse Youth Association.
She recently gave a presentation to sixty students on becoming a T.Q.H.Y.A.
member and answered questions on the association's activities, community
service, and awards program. The students ranged from four to twelve years
of age. After her demonstration on the different variations of color and
disciplines of Quarter Horses, students enjoyed sitting on English and
Western saddles. They even got to color on American Quarter Horse coloring
books.
Jenny, with other T.Q.H.Y.A members Jessica Weaver and Michelle Blake;
gave a horsemanship demonstration for their 4-H Judging Team. The kids
stared in awe as each exhibitor displayed the various skills need to complete
the pattern and rail work.
She
also presented an informative talk to the Nacogdoches 4-H Horse Club entitled
" What is T.Q.H.Y.A?" Club members were distributed T.Q.H.Y.A.
membership forms and other informative literature.
One of Jenny’s favorite activities is participating in the TQHYA's
charity project "Hooves for Happiness" where toys are collected
for children in hospitals and shelters. She is also involved in T.Q.H.Y.A's
fund raising activities, helping raise money for numerous youth activities.
Through her involvement in T.Q.H.Y.A, Jenny has gained leadership skills
and developed friendships that will travel with her throughout her life.
Her love for the American Quarter Horse and showing the American Quarter
Horse will keep her involved in the horse industry and as an active advocate
of the countless opportunities in the TQHYA. Jenny will continue to support
Texas Quarter Horse Youth Association and promote its programs because
of all she has gained from her experiences in TQHYA!
