Accredited Texas-Bred Program
The Racing Division includes the Accredited Texas-Bred Program (ATB) and provides millions of dollars in purse supplements of cash to owners, breeders, and stallion owners of each ATB horse finishing first, second or third in races conducted in Texas. Our Race Program includes one of the richest and most prestigious Quarter Horse races in Texas, the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity. An added benefit to our membership is the Annual Yearling Sale for Accredited Texas Bred Quarter Horses that allow our members to market their horses to buyers from around the world. Sale Graduates are then eligible for the $100,000 added TQHA Sale Futurity.
Stallion Service Programs
TQHA’s Annual Stallion Service Program offers TQHA members discount breeding seasons to many of the nation’s top stallions in both racing and barrel racing. Members are able to purchase these donated breedings for up to 50% off the advertised breeding fees.
Show Competition
The association not only produces and participates in various shows within the state but also approves close to 50 AQHA shows hosted within the state by area Texas Affiliates. Points earned at these shows are used towards year-end awards as well as qualifying for the AQHA Youth World!
Scholarships
An added value for our active youth membership is the dedication of the TQHA Foundation, and its commitment to providing and supporting scholarships for TQHA Youth members wishing to further their education since 1993.
Legislation
A partner with the Texas Agriculture Council, the TQHA is involved in the legislative process regarding equine industry issues in Texas. Members are encouraged to become involved with political issues through our Political Action Committee.
In 2009, the Texas Legislature adopted a resolution naming the American Quarter Horse the state’s official horse. Click here to read the resolution.
